For Real Life

From the Heart

There is something that happens in community when people share from their heart. Spoken with truth and love about today’s For Real Life experiences, dreams and celebrations. Bonnie shares dreams, hopes, removing labels and how she is stepping outside of the box to connect and be connected with others.

What's Stopping You?

Do you ever wonder why you react to situations and people in a negative or fearful way?  It could be a comment from someone that hurts you or a situation that you are avoiding yet you don’t really know why.  As a business owner, that can hold you back.  Keep you from doing the hard work of growing your business.  It can also impact relationships, how you view yourself, friends, family, money, work, so many areas of your life.  It can completely frustrate you and others especially if you are doing something like owning your own business or trying to have deep meaningful relationships.

Those are what we call limiting beliefs and we hear that term a lot lately.  It’s almost a catch phrase but there is also truth in the fact that our belief system, negative neural pathways, keep us blocked from doing what we really want to do, living our best and most abundant life.  We get the negative neural pathways from our own experience, other people’s experiences and our DNA.

I had an experience the other day that I want to share with you.  I have always been easily startled and distracted by noises.  For as long as I can remember I can be holding a conversation with someone and there would be an outside noise that stops me in mid-sentence, and I lose my train of thought.  Or I could be focused on a project and someone could just simply enter the room and I will jump out of my skin.  What was happening is a negative memory as a child was keeping “little Bonnie” on alert.  “Little Bonnie” jumps to the front of my memory and takes over, watching out for “adult Bonnie”.  A negative neural pathway connected directly from my brain to my stomach (which jumps with me) had been created.

Another example, using the experience of others.  If you have a family history of always feeling like finances were an issue.  It doesn’t even matter what your family’s financial status was or is.  Perhaps every time a family vacation was planned it was viewed as a privilege and typically was done as cheaply as possible.  Vacation was fun but there was always this underling theme of we really can’t afford it, so you better enjoy it.  As an adult you suddenly realize that you haven’t take a real vacation, a real getaway in years.  You have the time but feel spending the money just doesn’t make sense.

DNA can impact our neural pathways in ways like, my Mom or Dad never showed emotions so that’s why I don’t.  If you ever hear yourself say I’m just like my Mom or Dad that’s a neural pathway that was created through DNA.  Science is proving and showing us that these DNA neural pathways can be changed.

Re-Wiring Take a Step

Take a step is what I call doing the heart work.  Some people read all the personal development books out there but if there are no new neural pathways changes will not stick.  Taking a step requires you to be braver than your fears and braver than you’ve ever been.  You to want changes badly.  Do you want to see changes in yourself?

Start with this, write down 3 things every morning that you are grateful for.  Get a pad of paper, it doesn’t have to be fancy.  Do this first thing in the morning, write down the first 3 things that you are grateful for, don’t over think it.  Just do that.

For more personal help, contact me.  I’m not here but to counsel you to guide you with the tools that you need to get unblocked and overcome limiting beliefs.
