What Float's Your Boat?
I had the opportunity recently to speak with a group of people about life passion. One of the first steps to discovering your life adventure is realizing what you are passionate about. Sometimes it’s quite obvious and sometimes it's not. For me I’m passionate about helping other people discover what they want to do in life. I’m also passionate about health and helping others maintain a healthy lifestyle. I’m also passionate about my family. It’s easy for me to tell someone what I’m passionate about but I also realize that some people don’t know even where to begin.
When I started my journey in 2016 I honestly was unclear on how this fit into my passions. I just knew that I felt drawn to take small steps to defining what I was feeling. I didn’t know where it would take me. I definitely didn’t think I would end up leading an entire movement of future women leaders in Morocco. I just felt there was something more I was supposed to be doing with my life. I took a small step of faith and wrote down my feelings which ultimately described were my passion was leading.
We get stuck in boxes of life that tell us that’s all there is, nothing will ever change, and we should just be happy about our life. I was in one of those boxes. I had been working for a years in a job that was supposed to be fulfilling but was feeling more and more like a small box. That box was also lacking the oxygen that I needed to grow my personal passions. Now don’t get me wrong, I loved that box, I had friends in the box with me and I knew every inch of that box, it was a safe box even if it stifled my passion.
When I first woke up and realized there was more, it was quite startling. How long had I been walking through my days without really feeling alive? How long had my friends been doing the same thing? Months, years? It was a scary thought. I believe that we are all created with a life purpose. We are all created uniquely and are to do something that only we can do. It was scary to realize that my safe box was keeping me from doing what I was supposed to be doing with my life and even more scary to know that I had been basically asleep to this realization for several years.
One of those small steps was to believe that there was something more for me. My first step was to wake up and look around. I started journeying my feelings, my hopes, dreams, things that had been asleep inside of me for a long time. I connected with other people who had the same hopes and people who could guide me along the way. Step by step I began to believe there was more for me.
The Journey Continues
Even though I’m well on my way to living out my life passions there is still so much more. We don’t stop pursuing our passions just because we feel like we are living it. That just puts you back in a safe box. When you are continuing to pursue that passion is when the adventure and journey really begin.
What float’s your boat? What’s your life passion? I would love to hear from you. If your box seems impossible to get out of Discover Your Real Life can help give you take your first steps outside of that box.
